Birthday wishes.

Dear Evan,
Dad and I decided we really couldn’t face being alone on your birthday this year, so we decided to ask a few friends to join us for a walk. A walk to remember the pure joy you brought to our lives.

Guess what, over 500 people have decided to spend the afternoon with Dad and I! So many people were touched by your story, Evan. You were fighting so hard to live that you just had no idea how many people were praying, fighting and hoping right along side us. Well, now you know. Of course, now you know everything. You now know why God needed you by his side. And, why he chose you to help others find their faith again. Some day he’ll explain it to us, too.

I guess you also know how much we miss you, since we tell you at least a hundred times a day. Evan, since you left us nothing is the same. There is a permanent hole in our hearts that will never heal. We just put a patch over it every day and do the best we can to keep on living.

You’ve made it very clear that the “smiley face” is your symbol to us. Thank you for drawing it on the refrigerator white board, so we knew what to look for. Every time I see one, which is quite often, I know it’s a hello from you.

We’re so happy you told us you would be with us in every day, every flower, every tree and in every miracle of nature. We see you everywhere and we feel your spirit near by.

We love you so, so, much – our dear sweet wonderful Evan. We thank God for the 13 years we had with you, and the honor it was to be your parents.

Tomorrow we remember and celebrate Evan with a walk in his honor. Thank you to the more than 500 people who have signed up to join us for this special day!

Please BRING A LAWN CHAIR or PICNIC BLANKET, for the post walk lunch and to visit.

Check-in is at 12:30 p.m. For those registered, you'll receive your shirt and food/drink tickets at this time.

We'll then ask you to move to the "Messages to Heaven" table where you'll write a message to a loved one and/or Evan. These messages will be attached to balloons just prior to the release at approximately 1:30p.

Lunch will be available after the balloon release -- you may walk and then have lunch or have lunch first and then walk. Or, skip the walk and just have lunch. It's all good with us.

Keep praying for NO RAIN :-)

Should have named it Evanstock.

Wow, the response to evanwalk has been phenomenal! Over 450 people are registered to attend the event two weeks from today. What a wonderful tribute to Evan, we are so grateful.

Thank you to the army of volunteers who have signed up to help us, and special thanks to Sheryl Friedrich and Lori Curry who have helped Jeff and I with planning the event since day one.

For those attending, please be sure to bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket for the lunch following the walk. There are some picnic tables in the area, but certainly not enough for this large of a crowd.

Many thanks to these additional corporate sponsors: A Tot’s World, Norton Agency, Green Hyundai, Allen Henderson & Associates, Inc., North-End Storage, Creasey Printing, Franklin Marketing Inc., and Butler Funeral Homes. We appreciate your generous support.

More details soon!
