Updates on Evan

It's time to register for Evanwalk.

If Evan touched your life in any way big or small, please plan to join us as we remember and celebrate his life during Evanwalk 2012. All proceeds will benefit the Evan Hoffman Children's Fund for St. John's Children's Hospital.

Last year's event was a beautiful tribute to Evan on his birthday. The balloon release was so special and inspiring for all of us. Looking out at the sea of faces there was a mixture of laughter and tears as the balloons sailed directly into one of the large trees! We plan another release this year, but won't have to contend with those big trees since we'll be holding the event at the new Southwind Park.

The date is Sunday, May 20. The venue is Erinís Pavilion at Southwind Park, 4965 S. Second St., in Springfield. The facility and the park is completely accessible. (See southwindpark.org for more info.)

Check-in starts at 12:30p. We'll have your shirts and food/drink tickets ready. We plan to have a couple of activities to keep the kids busy while everyone is gathering. There will also be an array of delicious baked goods available for purchase --last year's homemade pies and cakes went fast! At 1:15p we'll gather for the balloon release. Followed by the walk and lunch.

Walk, jog or sit and watch. All are welcome!
Participants will receive an event t-shirt, food, drinks and fun. Minimum donations requested:
$20 per adult (18+); $10 per kid (17 to 5-years); Free 4-years & under. Day of the event registration will be an additional $5 donation per person, and a shirt is not guaranteed.

To register, please go to the event Web site evanwalk.com and download the Registration Form. Fill the form out, and mail it along with your check (payable to evanwalk) to PO Box 356, Athens, IL 62613. Be sure to register by May 1st (Evan's birthday) to guarantee a shirt!

If you would like to help sponsor the event, you'll also find the Corporate Sponsorship Form at evanwalk.com.

Don't forget to "like" our page on Facebook.com/evanwalk and help spread the word among your friends. We'd love to have an even bigger turnout this year.

Evan has visited me a lot lately (in my dreams). He keeps telling me, "I'm fine, Mom." In one dream he was smiling and all sweaty, "I've been dancing, Mom." A week or so ago Venus aligned with Jupiter and the crescent moon to create a smiley face in the sky, coincidence? Or, a BIG sign from Evan. I guess you know what I think.

We hope to see you Sunday, May 20!
