May 1st, Save the Date.

Itís been a long eight months without him, but we continue to keep Evanís spirit alive in our daily conversations and through our precious memories. He continues to make regular appearances in our dreams -- sometimes healthy, and sometimes not. Things he has written or drawn have popped up in a variety of places and always feel like the discovery of new treasure. These treasures serve as reminder of just how truly special he was -- so talented in so many ways.

Hereís a passage Evan wrote in his Moleskine (exactly as he wrote it) on March 18, 2010:

I am a daring writer.

I strike my words onto the page with little to no hesitation. Heck, Iím writing this in a car with no support at all! But I get ahead of myself.

The reason Iím a daring writer is...

I write with pen.

Evanís birthday is May 1, and to honor his memory we are planning a Walk to be held that day at Lincoln Park. Proceeds will benefit the Evan Hoffman Childrenís Fund for St. Johnís Childrenís Hospital. More details will follow soon. But in the meantime, we hope youíll save this date on your calendar and plan to join us.

We know quite a few people have visited the cemetery and have probably wondered when the heck Evanís headstone will be in place. Weíre happy to say it finally arrived from overseas a week or so ago, and is now being engraved. Who knew they didnít carve angels in the USA, not us.

Our prayers continue for family, friends, and all the kiddos still courageously fighting against the cancer beast. Remember you now have a special angel talking to God on your behalf, and heís got a way with words.
